BMW Gran Coupe Concept

This week's Beijing Auto Show has brought lots of surprises to the automotive world. Well this time, BMW is the one that has surprised us all; then have revealed the new Gran Coupe Concept.

The car is based on the previous BMW CS Concept and the 6 Series, even though the car may be seeing production in one or two years with '8 Series' on the hood. The car will join the Aston Martin Rapide-Porsche Panamera rivalry, also playing against the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Audi A7.

The car is only 1400mm high. That's why BMW says the car has "striking dynamic proportions", "sporty, flat silhouette" and "sculptural shaping" that fuse "the exclusivity of a Gran Turismo with the fascination of a high-performance sports car".

2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe Spied!

Today, in the streets of Munich, the 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe was spied (the cabrio version has already been spotted). Yes, 2012's M6 will be coming to production and will likely be competing against the Audi R8.

As we said, the car was spotted in Munich but will also be on the market for next year probably.

Unfortunately, the car has a lot of camouflage so it was hard to make out some parts of the design. Fortunately though, there were some obvious things we could see like the front air intake cap on the hood and several other adujustments similar to the one we just stated.

The Series is likely to feature the 7 Series' 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 402 horsepower. But, the M6 will get a more powerful engine producing 547 horsepower, coming from the X5M and X6M.

Alpina has pretty much had a version to all BMW's cars, and I could write them all down but it would take the page longer to load so I have decided not to.

The B7 Alpina will make it's debut at the New York Auto Show. But, the Alpina B5 has been spotted; a car that is based on the 2011 BMW 5-Series, codenamed the F10.

The 2011 BMW Alpina B5 will probably feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine capable of producing more than 500 horsepower. This engine will be related with a six-speed paddle-shift Alpina SWITCH-TRONIC automatic transmission gearbox.

BMW to cancel M3 Sedan

According to Automobile Magazine, BMW will cancel the production of the Sedan version of the M3. This will happen when the next generation M3, codenamed the F30. They also say that Bimmer will also continue making coupés and convertibles with a straight-six 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 450 horsepower.

Otherwise, they will also produce a Gran Turismo version of the M3, which will be revealed in March of 2013, which is when the 2013 Geneva MotorShow will take place.

For the other models, they will probably be out between March 2012 and 2014, maybe using four cylinder petrol and diesel engines that are more fuel efficient than any M3 has had, producing between 136 horsepower and 252 horsepower.

BMW reveals Z4 GT3 Racer

BMW is up to something else. The previously revealed Bimmer Z4 is now getting a race version, that will be competion in various national and international races.

The car comprises the same a similar engine from the M3 GT2; a 4 liter V8 engine instead of a straight-six from the normal road model. The engine produces 473 horsepower.

Made by Bimmer's Motorsport division, the car will use certain adjustments to the exterior including front and rear wings, bonnet, roof, fender and other useful components all made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (you think this plastic is cheap, you are wrong :)

The engine uses a Quick Shift six-speed sequential gearbox to stransmet power to the rear wheels.
