2011 Corvette Tribute to 50th Anniversary of First Le Mans Win

General Motors has released a 2011 version of the Chevy Corvette, this one a Z06. It is to honour Corvette's 5oth anniversary of first Le Mans Win. The car has 50th Anniversary logo patch that dates from 1960 to 2010. The car is limited to one car and will be used as a fundraiser for NCM. It will serve as $300,000 in taxes, for NCM and will be sold for $85,000. The car features an Arctic White paint-job and has black stripes going down the middle of the tribute. The side mirrors are painted Cyber Gray, while the rims are matte black, making the car look very ferocious. Anyway, this is a great way to pay a tribute to 1960's Briggs Cunningham Corvette!

Performax Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 RHD

Over Easter, the 22nd National Corvette Convention in Perth will be giving lots of surprises; such as Performax's Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 RHD. The car will also be shown at Rendezvous Observation City hotel at Scarborough from Good Friday until Easter Monday and will be driving around the city with other Corvettes between 10 am and 3 pm on Easter Saturday.

The car uses a 6.2 liter GM LS9 that produces 638hp and 604lb-ft of torque. It is capable of reaching at top speed of 320km/h and reaching 100km/h in less than 4 seconds.

Pebble Beach plans for 4C

The Pebble Beach is one of the most popular auto display shows. This year's show will have a lot of interesting cars. This includes Alfa Romeo's 4C. Yes, Alfa Romeo has already made a 8C and a convertible version of it too. But this piece of information is only a rumour!

Also, Corvette has made this nice looking Z06 called the Carbon. Could it be displayed at Pebble Beach?









The show will start on August 11 2010 and finish August 15 2010.

Corvette C6.BlackforceOne by LOMA Performance

Corvette has produced the C6, but LOMA Performance has tuned it up and named it the Corvette C6.BlackforceOne. Interesting name alright. The funny thing is that the car is not really a C6, it's a normal Corvette. Anyway, LOMA put a bi-turbo engine under the rear hood, and cranked performance up a notch. 100 km/h come sin an impressive 3.4. seconds, and tops peed is limited to above 330 km/h. Michelin Sport Cup tyres in dimensions 275/30R19 and 335/25R20 are mounted on 10 x 19 and 12 x 20-inch black OZ Racing Ultraleggera HLT alloy wheels. A carbon fibre/ceramic brake unit from Mov’it is available on request. The car was revealed yesterday at the Essen MotorShow and will sell for 190,000 euros. The interior is made of beautiful Alcantara leather, but besides that, you can choose from 300 different types of leather! And if we want to talk about the exterior, I've got my mouth full! Only three words: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray

It has been now 50 years exactly that the famous Chevrolet Stingray was released in 1959.

The C7 will arrive soon so the new Stingray will have not much time to get seen. But of course of it's popularity, it will be seen over a thousand times a day! This car features scissor-style doors, ergonomic seats, a rear-view camera and touchscreen features. Which is not available in the previous Corvette C6 series. Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Global Design, said:

''By giving my creative team the freedom to design no-holds-barred vision concepts, it helps them push boundaries and look at projects from different perspectives.''

Spector Werkes Corvette Z06 GTR at SEMA

Next week, the newly designed Corvette Z06 GTR by Spector Weeks will be unveiled to the public at the SEMA Show in Vegas. The 800 horsepower American beauty features a 7 liter LS7 V8 engine, a Corsa exhaust system and a StopTech STR brake package. The basic color is blue, with a bit of red touch on the bottom and the rear including a black plate. GTR is written in a modern Corvette font on this rear black plate.

Cargraphic Corvette Z06

Cargraphic has tuned up the famous 'Vette Z06. Now, when you look at it, you say; it's the same thing! But, wait. There is a difference. The rims are bigger. Not a big difference but big enough. We learn that the advantage of these rims is that it makes the car lighter in balance. The front includes 19 inch wheels and the back ones are 20 inch. You can get the rims in any color you want.

GM halts plans for Corvette C7

Autoweek stated that they have reliable sources that General Motors will be placing all of their plans for the C7 Corvette on an “indefinite hold, with no official or set timetable”. As sad as we are to hear that it doesn’t surprise us. GM has been having problems financially and are trying to come up with ways to save money.

Corvette Racing attacks GT2

GT2 racing is taking over GT1 racing in the American Le Mans Series. For this event, Corvette has made a new version of the C6.R, a racing version of the C6. Including an Xtract sequential 6-speed gearbox, C6.R features a 5.5. liter supercharged V8 LS9. The old version had a 7 liter LS7.R. That's not it, the newer C6.R has 105 horsepower less than the old version. Body-wise, the car is 2.5. inches shorter and narrower. There is also a 20-mm reduction in the size of the air restricter. Corvette Racing's program manager Doug Feham says that the new C6.R make a GT2 lap 4 to 5 seconds slower than the old version, but that won't stop Corvette from winning races!

Motor trend pushes limits of Corvette ZR1

If you want your chance to test the Corvette ZR1 then you are going to have to get in line. Everyone is trying to get their hands on the new supercar and test its true potential for themselves. Callaway Mystery

This guy called Reeves Callaway has been working for decades to make Corvettes faster & nicer machines. The newest are the C16 and the C16 Speedster. The C16 has a rather mysterious interior. Here is a picture:

As you might not see, on the steering wheel, there is the Corvette logo. Don`t you think that it should be the Callaway logo......

And the C16 Speedster is very, very crazy. There is no top available and also, there is no windshield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are supposed the wear a helmet over 53 km/h (35 mph).

American 'Vette-Power

It's back!, the Corvette Grand Sport. Many people were surprised when they pulled the cover of the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport at the 12th annual Corvette Bash which takes place at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Think of it, awesome suspension, Goodyear Eagle F1 supercar runflat tires, dry-stump lubrication system, rear-mounted battery, big brakes and cooling ducts derived directly from the Z06 Corvette. But one thing that is unlike the Z06 is that the Grand Sport will be available as a convertible and can be equipped with an automatic transmission. It's going to have a 346 horsepower CS3 small-block V8 engine used in C6 'Vettes. Gearbox ratios and final drives are straight from the Z51 performance package. When you see the Grand Sport's shark gill air outlets and it's front fenders, you know this car is special.

Convertible Showdown

Now that it's summer time, it's convertible season. So I've decided to have a convertible showdown featuring the Corvette Z51, the Porsche Boxster S and the Ford Shelby GT500. The way I will do it is I will have 4 attempts to determine which car is the best in power, speed and beauty. So, let's start with power. The winner will have to have alot of horsepower. The Shelby has 540 horsepower, the 'Vette has 400 horsepower and the Porsche has 310 horsepower.

Here are the rankings:

1. Ford Shelby GT500
2. Corvette Z51
3. Porsche Boxster S
   

Now, speed. the Shelby has a 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.3. seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, the Corvette has a 0-60 mph acceleration of 3.9. seconds and a top speed of 185 mph. Finally, the Porsche has a 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.1. seconds and a top speed of 180 mph.
