Lotus back in black! (and gold)

Some financial dealing with Renault and Lotus has made a black and gold F1 car for the 2011 F1 season. Their car will be called the Lotus Renault. You wouldn't want to know the details financially, because they are very boring, but they are more confusing than boring. You know why? All of this means that in the 2011 seasons, there will be 2 Lotus teams: the plain old Lotus team that was competing last year, and the Lotus-Renaud team that will be competing this year.

James Bond Lotus Evora leaked

This past week there has been Geneva and all that but let's move on to something else.
One day this week, a skier was on a skiing vacation in the French Alps of Chamonix when she spotted people filming, a car. But it was not just any car, it was probably James Bond's Lotus Evora. Here is the skier's statement;
"I'm just on a skiing holiday now in Chamonix in the French Alps and have seen loads of commotion around a film set. I watched an action stunt scene being filmed with tons of crews and papparazzi swarming! I especially noticed a flashy new Lotus Evora being used in the filming. Is there any way that this could be for the new James Bond film?"
Anyway, to add to the mystery, the photos wee also leaked on another blog (http://chrisfecher.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/jumping-the-new-lotus/) and he said the same thing. Mysterious...

2011 Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid

Lots of companies are getting economic and producing Hybrid versions of their cars. One of these companies is Lotus.

They have came up with a Eco version of the Evora and they called it the 414E Hybrid. The car includes a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder engine producing 306Kw of electric power. Otherwise, it can reach 100km/h in 4 seconds.

The car will be revealed at next week's Geneva Auto Show. It will be available in two drive modes; Eco and Sport.

Lotus returns to F1; with new car

As you might have already heard yesterday, Lotus is now returning to F1. To celebrate, they have made a new version of the Exige. The car is called the Exige S Type 72, which means that it lends homage to one of the most successful F1 car of all-time; the Lotus Type 72. This incredible F1 car was driven by some of Lotus' greats, including Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx. The car also won the Constructors’ Championships 3 times, in 1970, 1972 and 1973. Two Drivers’ World Championships were also won by this car. The first was won by Jochen Rindt in 1970 and the second by Emerson Fittipaldi in 1972. The new S Type 72 is not much different than the other Exige models, just that it will be limited to a production of 20 cars and it will be a special edition Lotus, exclusive in the UK.

Lotus Esprit replacement spied

The past week, MotorAuthority.com revealed the news that the rumoured Lotus Esprit replacement had been spied. It was spied in Hethel, UK and in a Exige/Elise/Evora package. The funny thing is that it could also be a replacement for the Exige or Elise! The car will feature a V8 or a V10 engine. But, whatever the engine, it will be from Lexus. Bye-bye Toyota. Anyway, Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley said that they needed an engine from “a very well respected prestige automaker.” The car will probably make it's debut in 2010, or later in 2012.

New Lotus Esprit Replacement official

Lotus CEO Danny Bahr has revealed Lotus' 7 year plan. One of the cars included is the Lotus Esprit Replacement. This will be it's name until revealing. We have here two photos of the car. The car is supposed to be limited to 275-325 bhp per tonne, going up against the Audi R8 V10; which produces 319 bhp per tonne.

New Lotus Exige S240

Though it may seem a small amount of power -- just 240 horsepower and 170 ft.-lbs. of torque -- for a vehicle in the featherweight class (just 2,077 pounds), the Exige S240 has a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a 0-100 mph time is about 10 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph. Also, for those who like to move quickly and in style and still be an eco-conscious member of society -- which basically describes half the male population of the Westside -- the Exige’s fuel economy is a slight 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Lotus Exige Scura

Britain has Aston Martin, but it also has Lotus. Now, the Britain automaker released the Exige Scura this weekend at the Tokyo MotorShow. You will be surprised but it is a pretty fast lotus, reaching 100 km/h in only 4.1. seconds! That's as fast as the new Porsche Boxster S. $ 92,223 is the price of the car. It's engine produces 260 horsepower.

Lotus Evora

When you first see it you say "it's a two seater". But when you enter it, there are rear seats. And yes, the Evora has the same V6 engine as the Toyota Camry. And I know you all have the same question: why does it have toyota's v6 engine? Well, for Lotus, Toyota is one of their strategic partners and Toyota engine are by far the most reliable. The engine sucks up 3.5. liters, 276 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Despite all this not so good news, the Evora's interior is exquisid. It's integrated GPS touchscreen and the modern red light speedometer add the to the beautifulness. The Lotus Evora is the first new product from Lotus in 13 years! 100 km/h (60 mph) comes in 4.9. seconds and it has a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). The Evora is and has everything for a weekend getaway. And plus+, Lotus has released the Evora Type 124 Endurance RaceCar. The racecar is expected to compete in a number of endurance races in 2010/2011 forming part of a factory-supported race program. The races that are targeted are: The 2010 ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hours (Nürburgring Nordschleife, Germany) in May 2010, Merdeka Millennium 12 Hours (Sepang, Malaysia) in August 2010, BritCar 24 Hours (Silverstone, UK) in October 2010 and the Dubai 24 Hours (Dubai Autodrome, UAE) January 2011.
